Hiya people
wanted to blog yesterday as a last post for April
MAJOR EVENTS FOR APRIL
- Promoted to Staff Sergeant (that's right fella's, its SSG Jackie NOW)
- Asked lots of questions about the electric guitar
(that's right folks, no more debate on whether to get a plug in acoustic or electric)
- Asked even more questions about MFX's and Analog pedals
(sorry, its GuitarLanguage)
- Choosing Amps (although there aren't many to choose, from my budget)
We had our enrolment parade/ Promotion on Easter day at church
The Praise and Worship team was supposed to perform, but didn't =(
We couldn't agree on rehearsal dates.
and also lots of other problems.
when i was promoted to Staff Sergeant,
the other sec 4's were all joking that the were finally of the "same rank" as Chuan Huat (RSM)
but we already knew he was going to be promoted to a Warrant Officer (WO)
but for that few minutes, WE WERE FINALLY THE SAME RANK AS HE WAS !!! hehehehe
then back to the electric guitar thing.
I did much research
borrowed a book from our school library
as the book was published in 1991
it only had history of guitars up to then.
but it was still interesting to read up on the history. learned many new things
like
- the famous guitar company Gibson laughed at Les Paul when he tried to show his invention the electric guitar (it used to be called an amplified guitar), calling it a broomstick with pickups.
- it was only a few months (or was it weeks?) later when another famous company Fender started churning out the a full solid-body electric guitar, did they realise that Les Paul's invention had potential after all.
- in an interview with Les Paul, he said when Fender started making full bodied electrics, Gibson
was like, "QUICK! find that guy with the broomstick and pickups on it!!!"
and...
- Did you know that Fender invented the Bass Guitar?
- That Gibson was never as successful at Bass guitars as with their other guitars?
- Did you ever realise that Ibanez was actually a company that got so good at making copies of high end guitars, they started making their own?
- Did you know that Ibanez is a Japanese brand? Like Yamaha?
all these cool facts about history! In that glorious book!!!
right, now to the electric guitar.
I need help choosing an electric guitar
one of my choices would be a Les Paul Special II
It looks almost like a regular Les Paul, it has the shape
i read the reviews,
It states that for a beginner guitar, it was definitely worth the money
it costs at about SG$ 299.60
(i haven't heard it yet, remember, all this are materials found on the net)
they say it sounds good on all kinds of distortion
with effects as well
here's a pic on it
And the second guitar, the Epiphone DOT
it looks great
and its the kind of guitar i would want
people on the net says its a great overall guitar,
built for live playing
but it doesn't sound good on distortion
the rest is good
but it also dents easily.
seeing its a semi-hollow
its a whopping SG$599.20
I'm gonna leave it to you guys out there to decide which guitar i should get
Please Leave A Tag Of Your Vote On What Guitar I Should Get
(it doesn't matter if you have no idea how it sounds, design matters too)
ciao
Will talk more on MFX's and Analog pedals on the next post, if i remember...
